Q5 five-star IIHS

The new Audi Q5.

Results from rigorous IIHS testing showed the 2009 Audi Q5 received a 'good' rating in all three crash measurements: side impact, offset frontal and rear impact seat tests.

The five-star ratings that the Audi Q5 received from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) represent the top marks possible in front and side crash tests.

The Audi Q5 earned five-star ratings for driver and passenger protection in NHTSA frontal crash tests, and five-star ratings for front and rear protection in NHTSA side impact crash tests.

The Audi commitment to safety goes beyond crash test safety ratings to include a comprehensive list of active and passive safety features. Every Audi sold in the Middle East has standard four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an electronic stability program (ESP). The Audi Q5 also features quattro permanent all-wheel standard on all models, providing high levels of active safety and traction on virtually any surface. All of these features are designed to help reduce the chances of a collision.

The Audi 2.0 TFSI Wins the "International Engine of the Year Award 2009"

STUTTGART / INGOLSTADT, GERMANY ? For the fifth year in a row, a jury of 64 leading motoring journalists from over 30 countries has voted the Audi 2.0-litre FSI the ?International Engine of the Year? in the 1.8 to 2.0 litre category.

?A blend of performance and efficiency. An example to all engine manufacturers,? concluded the jury, who went on to say they were particularly impressed by the way the Audi-developed engine combines pulling power, economy and excellent handling.

The latest version of the two-litre TFSI engine, found in the Audi A4, A5 and Q5 models, is equipped with the Audi valvelift system that regulates the valve lift in two stages. It acts on the turbo engine?s exhaust valves and together with the intake camshaft that can be adjusted through 60 degrees, it improves the charge cycle and boosts pulling power. For drivers, the Audi valvelift system is a technology designed to enhance driving enjoyment ? it guarantees a spontaneous, dynamic torque build-up, meaning the engine encourages the driver to shift up sooner, promoting lower revving and therefore a more economical style of driving.

In Australia, the 2.0 TFSI is available in various performance outputs ranging from 125 kW to 188 kW for the A3 Sportback, A3 Cabriolet, S3, A4, A5 and A6 model lines, as well as for the recently-released Audi Q5. In its most powerful form, the 2.0 TFSI engine with an output of 200 kW, accelerates the Audi TTS Coupe (S tronic) from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

From July, the 147kW 2.0 TFSI engine found in Audi?s two-door sports coupe, the TT, will be available for the first time with a quattro all-wheel drivetrain.

Audi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbo-charging in volume production. The success story of the 2.0 TFSI started in Australia from February 2005, when it made its debut in the Audi A3 Sportback. Over the next five years it has not only been crowned ?International Engine of the Year? on five occasions, but also the engine of choice for over 1.3 million customers.
